Lay Up Treasure In Heaven

Matthew 6:19: Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

Luke 18:22: Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

If you don*t have great wealth to lay up in heaven you can send something else on ahead. All of us can send our prayers up there. The prayers of saints seem to provide unique odours in Heaven that will be pleasing to God. They will be associated with an orchestra of harps and music and will be before the Lamb and before the throne.

Revelation 5:8: And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

Revelation 8:3: And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel*s hand.

If you have Christ in your heart and life you are a saint and your prayers will be among the prayers of the other saints in the golden vials, the golden censer and upon the golden altar. So who are those saints? Notice that the Apostle Paul wrote to saints who were still alive at Colosse and could read his epistle, not dead saints who had been voted into sainthood after their death.

Colossians 1:1: Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother, 2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Notice also that Roman believers were to give to the necessity of needy and still living saints in Rome and open their homes to them.

Romans 12:9: Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

There will be individuals in Heaven for whose salvation saints have prayed. What joy that will be!!! And consider the possibility that you will smell the sweet aroma of prayers that were prayed for you!!!
